Our Story: Built for You

Empowering women of color to start and scale successful careers in technology.

Baddies in Tech started with the vision of creating a space where women of color feel seen, supported, and empowered in tech. Our founder knows firsthand the challenges of being ‘the only one in the room’—the isolating experience that many women of color technologists face daily. She built BiT as a haven for women who want to break barriers, forge authentic connections, and build careers that support both their professional and personal aspirations.

ALLIE‘s story

As a Ghanaian-American immigrant, “medical doctor” was the career path at the top of Allie’s mind when she began her undergrad studies at Syracuse University. However, after realizing that was not God’s plan for her life, Allie made a quick pivot into the tech field, landing at an AI health-tech startup upon graduating. Finding herself as the “only” in her new work environment, Allie began searching for a way to connect with other women of color in the industry for mentorship, advice, and support.

An impromptu Instagram selfie, tagged #baddiesintech, was the answer to her “lonley-only” problem. Allie found the connections she was looking for, and also found that there were countless other women of color who were facing similar barriers to growing their careers in technology. What started as a #hashtag, has grown into the largest professional development community for women of color technologists.
